Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am requesting to be withdrawn from the DEVS100 course past the withdrawal deadline without penalty.

I am a Sergeant the military and since October I have been away from my home on an important career program that has been taking up my focus. I've tried to keep up with my assignments but my readings have been impossible to accomplish due to time constraints and additional workload stemming from this course as well as current job responsibilities. I cannot focus on the course or the upcoming exam with the added stress of being on a military course away from my home and family.

This Queen??s course is an important one as I am doing the mature student track which requires me to get a certain GPA to enroll in the degree program and I would hate for my studies to suffer because of my career. Obviously my military job has to come first.

I am awaiting help for depression and anxiety due to my military service as I will be seen once I return home to my unit (as a 33 year old adult, I cannot provide a letter from a parent in lieu of a physician) and this added stress regarding the course (readings, exams, and assignments) is causing me additional anxiety. I would like to be able to focus on my mental health as well as my military career without the fear of never being able to return to Queen??s (once I am better medically and not on a military course) due to my not doing well in this course.
