Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Hello,

My name is Meryum Mohammed and am in my 3rd year at Queens. I unfortunately have to drop these two classes, as I am failing them. I missed the deadline to drop the classes because a lot was going on at the time, and I also didn't plan on dropping unil said things happened. I don't mean to give a long sob story, however, these things actually happened. First, my room flooded during homecoming; destroying all my belongings along with my notes and textbooks. which happened right before midterm exams. As all my notes were destroyed, i didn't do well on my midterms; which is why I am failing. I was also out of my house for a month, and i couldn't afford to find another housing situation. I ended up missing out on a lot of my in-person classes, because i couldn't stay in kingston. A lot more things happened in my personal line as well at that time, which can't prove but was really troubling for me. Right before the deadline to drop classes happened, my aunt passed due to covid. Dropping the classes then completely left my mind, and I forgot about the deadline.Im so sorry to be asking for an appeal, but I had no control over what was happening during the month of October and November. Im also really sorry i dont have anymore proof to show. I really hope you can consider accepting my appeal.
