Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
I have recently been having increasing difficulty in completing work for the 2021 fall semester due to a family-related extenuating circumstance. I am writing to appeal my ANAT 100 course as I have not been able to keep up with the work due to being in my hometown assisting my mother as she has been having a difficult time living on her own. This has caused a tremendous amount of stress which has resulted in work not being completed on time, and a lack of knowledge about the content of the course. I do not feel as though I am able to complete the course as I have no knowledge of material that I feel is crucial to learn for my next steps of education. These feelings of stress and being overwhelmed have occurred since the first week of school back in September and they have only gotten worse to the current date. This has led me to seek out mental health help and schedule a couple sessions with a counsellor to get my schooling and mind back on track. This proved to be somewhat helpful but not enough that I feel mentally able to complete this course. I feel as though I would be doing a disservice to myself by attempting to complete the exam and upcoming assignments in this course as I know I would not be successful in doing so. The stress that has been placed upon me has diminished my work ethic and has made it extremely hard to focus on such heavy content while these problems are occurring in my personal life. I believe it would be best for me to have this course appealed so I am able to re-take it later when I am mentally prepared to do so, and I can fully succeed in it. If I can have this course removed and have a NG placed in its spot, I would be very grateful and I will see to it that the next time I take the course, I will ensure I am in a better headspace and personal space ahead of time to make sure I am successful in my studies.
Thank you for reading and for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Olivia Dyer
