Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Dear Sir or Madam,
Last year I developed chronic cervical pain from working in front of a computer for long periods of time, which has lasted until now. In early semester, I chose to buy my own tools to rehab at home under the guidance of my mother's doctor friend because of the excessive time required for rehab. Then my condition continued to worsen, so I underwent several medical tests at the beginning of October. It was eventually proven that my cervical spine had bent in the opposite direction a lot and was causing frequent and severe headaches. As a result, I had to undergo systematic rehabilitation. Including travel time, I spent 4-5 hours a day on rehabilitation.
At the beginning of November, I improved and was given academic consideration, so after discussing with my professor I decided to keep the course and gradually submit my assignments. I was really enjoying the course. However, a week later my condition suddenly worsened due to an incorrect sleeping position, and until now my cervical spine has been restricted to a very small range of rotation, and I have had an increase in headaches. Besides, over the past month, a large number of new residents in my home town have been infected with the new omicron virus and this has been reported in the mainstream media in China. Hospitals are receiving excessive patients and several neighbourhoods around me have been forced to implement a lockdown policy, so the doctor strongly advised me not to go to the hospital for further rehab now, fearing that I would bring the virus to the hospital doctors or that I would be infected by the hospital patients. Consequently, I have to take a break from going to the hospital for rehab and I am much sicker and really don't have the energy to complete the assignments for this course. I have not had any participation in this course so far. I kindly request your permission to still drop this course at this time.
I am very sorry for the inconvenience that the above has caused the professor and the school, but I have indeed been continuously suffering from illness this semester. I would be quite grateful if the school could help me.
Sincerely & Apologetic,
Xinyi Yue
