Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
My name is Lydia McCormack and I am a first year student in the Art¿¿s and Science faculty at Queen¿¿s University.
In the Fall Term, I was in the hospital for a week during December due to mental health concerns. I had to adjust my work load after this incident and decided to take fewer courses for the Winter Term. Although I attempted to continue with my studies, my struggles with mental health impacted my abilities to attend class, which in turn affected my work completion and comprehension of course material. I originally believed I would be able to complete these courses, but I began to fall behind and could not catch up.
After meeting with Joyce Hunter, I have decided it would be in my best interest, both academically and emotionally, to not complete this semester. I am writing this appeal in hopes of dropping GPHY 103 and GEOL 104 past the academic deadline. Dr. Condra from Queen¿¿s Health, Counselling, and Disability Services has provided Joyce Hunter with documentation regarding my appeal.
Thank you for your consideration. I truly hope that I will be able to complete more courses this summer and next year, and eventually finish with my BSH with a major in Environmental Science.
