Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To Whom it May Concern:

The reason for my appeal is that I have had a history of concussions, and unfortunately was in a car accident over reading week. During this car accident I sustained my eighth concussion. Due to this concussion, I have been unable to attend classes or complete course work for over a month.

In the fall I also suffered another concussion, but it was much less serious. It was this concussion in the fall that caused me to have low grades in ECON110 to begin with. Starting second semester with a healthy brain, I assumed that I would be able to catch up to a point where I felt comfortable by the end of the semester.

However, since the accident I have already had to miss one assignment and one quiz, and would also have to miss an upcoming assignment. Missing this much of the coursework means that my exam will have more weight. Because I have also missed over a month of classes, I feel that it is very unlikely that I will be able to pass this course. The likelihood of me being able to learn the course material required while still recovering from the concussion and also studying for my other exams is unlikely.

Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
