Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am writing this letter to request to drop course from the fall Semester. I was not surprised, but very upset to see the grades and the regression that I was experiencing in these courses over the period of time as they were not in my control. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to explain my circumstances.
I admit I had a very difficult time last semester, and my grades suffered as a result. I don't mean to make excuses for my poor academic performance, but I would like to explain the circumstances. I knew that registering for 30 credit hours in the fall would require a lot of me, but I needed to earn the hours so as to be on track to graduate on time. I thought I could handle the workload, and I still think I could have, except that I faced a lot of on campus residency issues in this semester. Trying to find a place to live in Kingston was hard and secondly looking for a house where you can focus on studies was a kind of getting hard for me. Even when I was at school, I was very distracted with the home situation and was unable to focus on my schoolwork. I understand now that I should have communicated with my professors (instead of avoiding them. I thought I could handle all of these burdens, and I tried my best, but I was wrong. Not able to find a place for couple of months led me to fall behind in the studies and once I lost the track it was hard for me to get back. So with the discussion with the profs and academic advisers, we concluded that it would ben better if I drop the course now and do it in the next semester.
Please understand that my low GPA that led to my dismissal does not indicate that I am a bad student. Really, I'm a good student who had one very, very bad semester. You can have a look on my grades in the previous summer semester. I hope you will give me a second chance. Thank you for considering this appeal.
