Petition Letter: Hello,
This letter is being written to appeal the last day to drop a course without any academic penalty past the allowed date (waive the one term deadline). I am currently a 3rd year student enrolled in course BIOL 343 Data Analysis For Biologists F21. I started off well in the course, but around the middle of the semester my uncle passed away. At first I did not feel this would affect me, but my work rate and motivation in my academics began to decline due to depressed feelings. This forced me to prioritize courses that I felt the most interested in and I missed various assignments within BIOL 343. I do not feel I did as well as I could have in the course due to the extenuating circumstance. As of now, I talked with my mom and a practitioner at student wellness to work through what has happened and come to terms with it.
