Petition Letter: Extenuating circumstances: Unstable home/family life

Examples - Open resentment/hostility between family members (mother-father, mother-stepmother, stepmother-mother, stepmother-father, stepmother-brother, stepmother-self, brother-stepmother); mother found in diabetic coma; frequent arguments/hostilities with self as focal point (either as topic or as cause); grievances commonly voiced to self directly by other family members, etc.

Effects - Missed deadlines, triggering of existing anxiety diagnosis

Corollary: Frequent events of anxiety

Effects - Difficulty focusing on academics, resulting in missed deadlines; fixation on own failures/inadequacies, resulting in psychological difficulty handing in late submissions/utilizing university resources/contacting professors; anxiety attacks; lack of self-care; self-degradation, etc.

Note: CISC 203 / COGS 100 both online classes; anxiety exacerbated by lack of direct interaction (ie. in-person lectures, group assignments, interaction with professor/peers)

Current strategies being used to alleviate situation - Reaching out to friends/academic resources for consolation, advice, assistance, academic consideration; lifestyle changes(ie. increased self-discipline, maintenance of organizational skills)

Strategies potentially implemented going forward - Going to counselor; increasing dosage of anxiety prescription; contacting QSAS regarding psychological conditions (anciety, ADHD, ASD)

(I put my current degree plan, but I was in a BCH program. I have been dealing with this situation since last year, to a varying degree, which caused me to fall out of my degree plan. I shouldn't have let it get this bad. I know this might all be fruitless, but I needed to do this for my own sake. I just hope I can recover at least some fragments of my academic career, so I can stay on-pace with my peers and hopefully even rejoin them in Computer Science in the future.)
