Petition Letter: Hello,

I have been a student at Queen??s University since enrolling as a first year in September of 2019 - majoring in Economics within Arts and Sciences. I am now in my third year, and need to request a formal pause of my degree, along with an exception to immediately drop two classes this term due to increasing mental health concerns.For years, I??ve struggled with anxiety-related stress. I??ve managed to work my way through various challenges, but at times have fallen into coping mechanisms that are considered to be unhealthy. This term has seen me go through an immense amount of stress.

I contacted Student Wellness Services back in October when these behaviors were becoming a problem, and unfortunately, the resources there were limited, and my needs were not met despite several efforts to do so. I understand the school is overwhelmed, but my situation has become such that I need full and consistent therapy to get back on track - and that needs to be back home in Connecticut for the next several months.

My desire is to pause my degree, and immediately withdraw from these two classes: (1) Econ 351, (2) Econ 310. This is supported by Roger Davidson, my school counselor who has also provided a letter supporting this request. I plan on re-enrolling in Queen??s next Fall, and continue where I left off, once I am healthy. Thank you for your time, and understanding of the situation I am in. I am grateful for what Queen??s has provided me to date, and look forward to completing the program when I return.
