Appeal Letter: Hello,
This course was previously showing an IN on my transcript, but is now showing an F. I did not handle the last-minute switch of exams from in-person to online, COVID disruptions, or struggles with my mental health well at all at the time. I did attempt to get documentation, but Queen's Student Wellness refused to help (specifically Sunday Kayaras who made me feel a lot worse in my interaction with her on the phone - she should not be in counselling) since I had decided to not continue with any courses during the winter semester (despite paying my student fees for the entire year) to focus on my mental health. I do not believe this grade fairly reflects my overall ability as a student or my knowledge of the course content at the time. I am now looking at applying for my master's, and this grade has a significant negative impact on my admission averages. I did not drop the course by the drop deadline as I could not predict how much worse my mental health was going to get over the remaining couple of months or how Queen's/the government was going to decide to go backwards rather than forwards regarding COVID policies. Overall, I was not able to handle the stress relating to last-minute changes made during exam time, working in the hospital, or my sister's unstable mental health at home well, and combined, these factors greatly affected my ability to finish the course.
