Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am appealing the Faculty's decision that I must withdraw from ECON 111 and STAT 263. I have already received the Faculty's permission to drop STAT 263 at the beginning of the semester but it appears to be F on my transcript due to the administrative error, so I am submitting the request again to remind.
I must withdraw from ECON 111. I was thinking of exploring my interest during the first year, and I thought Economics was the subject that I would discover my interest in. Also, since I'm majoring in Mathematics, I assumed that Economics would expand my interest in subjects other than STEM. However, I didn't find Economics interesting as the semester went on. Since I was considering minoring in Economics, I thought I should study as much as I could for the final exam, which was worth 50 percent of the final grade, and then reconsider my decision if I'm not successful on this subject. I didn't want to give up without even trying my best. During the hectic time of the first semester in university, I didn't understand how to control my limits and time management skills. I should've acknowledged that all of my courses are the most challenging Mathematics courses, thus I might not be able to spend that much time on anything other than what I need to take for the upper year Math courses. Since I personally found university academics is much harder than secondary level academics, I was having such a hard time adapting to a new academic environment and harder work ethics. During the final exam season, I was spending at least more than 10 hours studying every day at the library. I've never studied as hard as these times before. Even though I tried my best, I ended up not getting good grades on this course, so I decided not to minor in Economics but find another subject that I want to spend my effort on for the remaining three years.
This experience is helpful for my future plan because I learned about my interests and weaknesses. Even though I got disappointed in myself, I decided to make improvements with my time management skills rather than giving up. Developing an appropriate work ethic and learning about myself are also the important things that I will learn during four years of university. For my future plan, I will understand my limits and have a better time management skill by having more room on my timetable. I'm thinking about taking online ECON 111 during the summer term if I want to have one more chance learning Economics. I need more time to discover what I genuinely pursue for my future to determine my major and minor.
