Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I am appealing my grade for BCHM 316 due to unforseen circumstances. This past year was the hardest of my life. From testing positive for COVID, to starting medication for an autoimmune condition that left me bedridden for days during the semester, to psychological breaks which made it impossible to leave my room, I struggled to succeed in my courses. BCHM 316 is the one course that stands out. My other courses taken in Winter 2021 received grades of A+, A+, A, and A. The C I received in BCHM 316 is not representative of my academic abilities as a student. Furthermore, I have been taking the necessary steps to get my mental health in check following the events surrounding the BCHM 316 final exam, which dropped my final mark by 2 full letter grades. Speaking to a psycologist, I came to realize that the events which took place surrounding the BCHM 316 final exam made it nearly impossible to succeed, and I was advised by Student Wellness Services to submit an academic appeal for this course. I have ongoing appointments with Student Wellness Services to continue to improve my mental health, but I truly feel as though the C in BCHM 316 that I received does not demonstrate my abilities as a student with an otherwise stellar transcript.
