Petition Letter: RE: Reconsideration of Level II departure of academic integrity
Dr. Atkinson,
I am writing regarding the finding of departure of Academic integrity by Prof. Antonia Behan for the course ARTH275 dated December 15th, 2021. Professor has granted a grade F for the course with
level II departure from academic integrity.
After reviewing the findings of the professor, I am ashamed of my work. Even though I did provide all the citations for the sources in the assignments but lacked in providing appropriate acknowledgement through proper paraphrasing. Writing is not my best skill as I am an artistic individual and learn through visuals. I have never had any such issue before, but the nature of these assignments was to analyze artwork from history and to provide the facts, due to which I got carried away with using the actual wordings without proper paraphrasing. The first assignment in question was submitted in late September but the feedback I received did not include any comments on the lack of paraphrasing or any academic infraction at that time. If I was made aware of any such issue at that point, then I would have been way more careful and aware while preparing the other assignments. I am humbly requesting to reconsider the Level II departure to Level I departure so that it does not affect my student files. I accept the Grade F in the course as I do see the logic behind it but please consider my request.
I have re-read the academic integrity guidelines to refresh my memory and to be mindful of the writing guidelines for the future assignments. I am a proud Queens University student who is not limited to academics but also involved in various clubs like Queens for sustainable fashion club and Queens vogue charity fashion show and will continue to work hard to excel in my program.
Hopefully, you will consider my request and give me another chance to prove my ability.
