Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean of Studies,

I am appealing the Faculty¿¿s decision that I must withdraw from Queen¿¿s for a minimum of three years. As a result I ask to drop all my courses for this semester, RELS161,PSYCH100,GEOL104, and GEOL106.

Due to multiple extenuating circumstances beyond my control, I will be withdrawing from Queen's University for an indiscernible period of time. These multiple extenuating circumstances have led to the isolation of myself from others that has progressed to the failing of my classes. These circumstances have arisen due to psychological challenges, family problems, and financial burdens that have put immense stress on me during this study period. These contributors have affected my academic performance greatly and have put me in a place beyond help. After consulting many academic advisors and mental health services and counsellors, my decision to withdraw due to my circumstances is approved by these professionals. I have documentation that is evidence of these issues I have listed above that will be sent to this office around the same time of this appeal. I did not withdraw from Queens earlier due to indecision on my part whether this course of action at the time was the right thing to do. In light of recent events, however, it is now clear to me that I have made the right decision for the sake of my wellbeing and my mental health. I plan to return to Queens when these issues are resolved.

My plan to achieve academic success is to resolve my financial burdens and maintaining regular visits to a mental health professional on my time away from school and when I return. When I come back, I will take a lighter course load and transfer into program that is better suited for my interests and capabilities.
