Petition Letter: Dear Art and Science Department.
Hello My name is Zhengling Dai, and my student number is 20145105. I am a third-year PSYC-MATH medial undergraduate student. I am writing to apply for accommodation for taking the MATH337 online and attending the final exam online.
The main reason that I am applying for this accommodation is because my passport will be expired in 5 months, and all the material that I need to apply for a new one is in China. Therefore I must go back to China. Moreover, due to the continuously mutating of covid-19, China has increasingly restricted quarantine measurement. I have already flown back to China, and right now I have lived in the quarantine hotel for 21 days and must stay here for another 7 days. After the hotel quarantine, I have to isolate myself at home for 7 more days. I cannot start to apply for a new passport unless I finish my quarantine. As you know, during the pandemic, applying for a new passport can be extremely slow. It is very unlikely that I can get that passport in time.
Even if I get the new passport in time and come back to Kingston, when I go back to China after the winter term finished, I must again follow the quarantine measurements: live inside the hotel for 24 days, and be isolated at home for 7 more days. I will lose my freedom for more than 2 months this year if that happens. This is no different than serving a sentence in prison, it can put lots of mental pressure on me, and I do not think I can handle it. Due to the above reasons, I do not think I can return to Kingston after Feb. 28th to finish the remaining term and join any in-person exams.
Thus, I am writing to apply for accommodations to take MATH337 online and take the exam online. I have already asked math department about my situation. And they just got back to me now. They told me to stay in MATH212 before they have new information. And when they gave me the new information, and I have already pass the deadline to add course. Now I have to drop MATH212 and switched to MATH337.Can you please help me?

Academic Plan: This state of me is only temporary, I will get my new passport as soon as possible and make sure I can return for in-person study for the semester in fall 2022.
