Petition Letter: This appeal pertains to a revaluation of assessment weighting as a retroactive accommodation for ANAT 315 with Dr. Ron Easteal. As of November 25th, 2021 I have successfully registered for accommodations with QSAS and a letter of accommodation has been produced with relevant information pertaining to diagnosis and needed support. The professor received a copy of my LoA as of November 25th, 2021. I am requesting that evaluations prior to November 25th, 2021 in ANAT 315 be re-weighted to the final exam and final lab test. The evaluations impacted by learning disability crisis are ??Midterm 1? and ??Lab Test 1?. At the time, I was a mere 2 weeks till my diagnosis however, did not receive the support and accommodations needed for my success. I lacked the medication, and was unsure of the skills and environment (such as a quiet room) I required for success. During the week when these evaluations took place (October 20th to 27th, 2021) I experienced severe symptoms of my learning disability which hindered my ability to succeed academically. One example of uncontrollable disability I faced was experiencing very low levels of attention, including a lack of attention to details. I noticed when completing timed practice problems (such as practice bellringer) I felt rushed. When reviewing practice questions I easily detected small ??silly? errors I made when time constrained. Without extra time provided during the lab assessment, I was unable to review or correct my inattention to detail. The symptoms I experienced were severe enough to seek medical attention from my family doctor whom requested a psychiatric evaluation. Since ANAT 315 is a cumulative course, I have proven by both the Final Exam and Final Lab Test my true knowledge of ANAT 315 course material. By registering with QSAS I have experienced the power accommodations such as extra time, and breaks can have on my academic success. I feel my previous assessments were jeopardized from underlying learning disability, and the severe symptoms of said crisis.
