Petition Letter
Petition Letter: To the Associate Dean (Academic)
I am appealing to drop GNDS 125(Fall 2021), ASTR 101(Fall 2021), and HLTH 101(Fall 2021). Due to extenuating circumstances that were not under my control. Throughout the fall term 2021 I ran into unforeseen complications that effected my schoolwork. My condition started having a very heavy impact around mid-October. It was at this time that I booked an appointment with my doctor and was diagnosed with Attention-Deficit-Hyperactive-Disorder. I was unaware of my disorder until November 2021 when I had gone through the process of different tests to obtain the most correct diagnosis. I officially started medication for my disorder in the second week of December, by which time exams had already come and I was in a very stressful state as my condition was going untreated for the previous months making it extraordinarily hard for myself to achieve average and/or above average grades as well as properly studying for all exams and completing final assignments. I am appealing to drop these three specific courses because I feel that I am able to pick up my grades in my other two courses in the fact that they are full year courses and I am not receiving medical help unlike before when enrolled in my half year fall term courses.
I have taken steps and applied for academic considerations which was granted and led me to an appointment with QSAS Meg Hall and a referral to Anne Newman. I have documentation from my doctor along with documentation of my Letter of Accommodations. I have set up many more success resources for this winter term 2022 than I had for the fall term 2021 that have helped me become more organized with my academic work creating an easier workflow day with more work getting done now.
Thank you,
Bridgette Budd
