Petition Letter

Petition Letter: In spring of 2013 I registered to take Math 121 online at Queens University as a visiting student. I am a current Kinesiology student at McGill University in Montreal and needed to take the calculus courses in the summer at another university in order to graduate. I got a letter of permission and official transcript from my university and sent all my documentation to the admissions office. However, due to personal and family problems I was unable to take the course and I called the registers office to cancel my enrollment and remove me from the course before it started, therefore I DID NOT participate in the class at all. I did neglect to get the women's name who I spoke to which is my fault, however there was no reason for me to believe there was an issue. It doesn't seem reasonable to me that I would not receive any notification about any holds, account balances, class information in 10 months. I have since applied to take the course THIS summer, but due to a hold on my account I am unable to do so. I am appealing to have MATH 121(Differential and Integral Calculus) removed from my transcript, in addition I am requesting to waive the 21-day deadline so my appeal can be heard in a timely fashion as there were special circumstances that rendered me for appealing within the specified timeline. ( I was under the impression I was not a student and WAS not registered in the course) I do accept full responsibility for not having logged on to the SOLUS site to double check, as I had been assured by Queens Staff that there was no further action required of me. As I was of the understanding that I had been removed from the course I did not see any need to pursue further. Since that time, I have not received any communication(email etc) indicating that there were any outstanding items. I apologize, and I am eager to do whatever is required to rectify the situation in order to move forward with this summer's application. I am not a Queens student and I was very unfamiliar with your system, and had to do everything over the computer or phone which is likely why the confusion and mistakes occurred. As you can understand, time is of the essence as I am required to enroll by May 4th 2015 for Math 121 online. This credit is required in order for me to meet my degree requirements at McGill University. Any help you can provide me to removing the hold associated to my account so that I can enroll in this course beginning this May 2015 so that I am able to graduate from McGill.
I can be reached at aleishab_15@hotmail.com or 613-340-4041 if there are any questions or anything else I am required to do.
Thank you for your help in directing me to resolve this situation.

Sincerely,

Aleisha Bates
