Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I never intended to submit an appeal to drop a class, but I believe it is my best course of action after talking to my professor. I take pride in my work as a student, but unfortunately, this year, I have suffered a series of depressive episodes that have made it extremely hard to function at my usual capacity. I stopped eating, exercising, bathing, or doing even the smallest of assignments. This week I went home to seek assistance and am currently receiving extensive therapy and have since been given medication. As my first step, I reached out to my professors to ask for any extension on my late assignments that I could use to receive a passing grade; unfortunately, but understandably, my professor for this course advised me to drop the class instead. I would greatly appreciate the chance to drop this course now so I can salvage my GPA and continue to work even harder to make sure I represent the best of Queens and the best of my degree.
