Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am appealing to CR CISC 324 in fall term 2021.
I want to appeal to CR CISC324 because I was suffering severe depression from mid of November 2021 to January. 2022. At the beginning of that term, everything went well until my mother told me a severe accident had happened to my family; I don't want to talk too many details about that. But it influences me during that time. I could not sleep well, I only got 3-4 hours of sleep, and then I woke up by myself. I feel anxious and depressed. And it becomes so hard for me to stay focused. I have tried to cancel my driving test and other things to reduce my pressure. So, I can be more focused on my courses. But it did not help me a lot. Then I found a hospital that I was familiar with in my hometown. Since Chinese is my first language, I think it would be more comfortable and accurate to talk about my symptoms and feelings in Chinese. Then I received my treatment, and it went well.
In fall term 2021, I have done four courses. CISC 457 and CISC 497 did not have many works to do when I started to feel depressed, although it influenced me a bit in the end. Overall, I think I will accept it. And math 211 is a 6-units course; I received an unexpected mark on my midyear exam due to depression. But I could put more effort into the winter term to increase my grade. So, the most affected class is CISC324. It is a problem for me to stay focused when reviewing. Since I only got a few hours of sleep, it was hard for me to remember the concepts and definitions. So I would like to only CR this Course.
After treatment, my depression is getting a lot better. Everything is on the right track. And, I believe I will be able to finish the winter successively,
