Petition Letter: During the Fall of 2021, I experienced issues enrolling into my mandatory Fine Arts program class, with Dan Hughes. The class usually automatically enrolls Fine arts students into the class before classes start. I had messaged and spoke to several people in administration and voiced my issues during that time and I was manually placed into the class. During this time I had not realized that manually enrolling me into the fall term would not manually enroll me into the winter term as they are separate.
During the start of the second semester in January 2022, I had started Painting in ARTF 227. Professor Dan Hughes had spoken to me about not being able to find me on the class list on ONq. My first thought was that it was because I had switched groups in the fall originally being in Group 2, so I could have just not been moved over for the winter semester, I had moved to group one after getting an email from both instructors in August that I was in their group and after speaking to both head instructors I was given the option to chose which group to stay with. After another conversation with Dan Hughes, we had believed it was because I had not paid tuition yet, since continuing with online learning we had disregarded that and I continued with my studies since I was able to be on zoom and was receiving the class emails.
Later in the term after returning to in-person learning, and after speaking to several of the members of the Fine Arts department, it became clear that I had not been enrolled into the winter semester, this came after the deadline to enroll in classes for the winter term. Since January I have been actively participating in my ARTF 227 class with both Dan Hughes and with Rena Karanouh. Both of them have supported me in enrolling and continuing my studies with them.
I hope to continue in my study in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program and receive my grades from my work this term. My grades from this term are needed for me to continue into third year in my program.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: I plan on continuing in the Fine Arts program and graduating with a degree that will expand my options for the future in the art community. I am a student who has struggled and is continuing to work on issues relating to mental illness, my Fine art classes have been a helpful aspect of my well-being. The professor of ARTF 227, Dan Hughes especially has helped me work through struggles and helped me excel and I plan to continue on that path. I continue to focus on my studies and apply myself to my full ability. Since knowing about the circumstances of my enrolment, I have continued to complete work and attend this class, to learn and improve my skills. I hope to continue and further broaden my knowledge in the Fine Arts program and the winter term ARTF 227 class.
