Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I am submitting this appeal to drop my courses after the academic deadline after extensive consultation with my family doctor. Beginning in February 2022 I started undergoing severe stress to my physical and mental wellness due to an ongoing struggle with my health.

I had originally hoped to be able to get well and continue on with the semester, and finish my current courses so that I could focus on recovering over the summer. Unfortunately things have not gotten better for me, and continuing my studies has put intense strain on my health and wellness. Due to the amount of time I have had to spend focused on my own personal health, I have not been able to commit the time required to be successful in my courses this semester. What I need right now is time to focus on recovery, and getting my health back to where it needs to be before I am able to return to my studies. At this point, it would cause extreme stress on my physical and mental health to have to continue working through the semester trying to take care of myself, while also having to provide for myself financially as an independent student.

My doctor?s recommendation is that I take time off from my studies, and focus on healing for the rest of the semester. We have decided together that it would be the best decision to keep me safe and well, as putting extra stress onto myself could be extremely damaging to me right now.I have attached my doctor?s recommendation, please consider granting me this appeal so that I may focus on getting better. I truly love what I study at Queen?s, my hope as a student is to be able to give my all to the work that I do and I plan to do just that when I am in a better state. With some time off to better myself and work with my healthcare team I am very hopeful that I will be able to resume my studies in the Fall, when I can give 100% of my effort.
