Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
my name is sydney russell, 20263194. I have been enrolled in COGS100 this semester. this course has been super interesting to me and I was very excited to take it because of my passion for cognitive science, neuroscience, and psychology. I was thrilled to be learning about the inner workings of the mind and everything. unfortunately, this class has left me disappointed. as much as I enjoyed learning the content, getting accommodations or help when I was need was nearly impossible. I had to write a midterm at the beginning of march but I had been diagnosed with COVID-19. So being responsible I was doing my isolation and was able to go write it because I obviously didn't want to affect my peers and staff with COVID. there was then a make up period for this examination on a date. I had become severely sick. I was unable to get out of bed without fainting, chills and fever, horrible headaches, full body aches, a sore throat, terrible chest pain, and overall brain fog. the day I was meant to write this makeup examination was the day after I went to the hospital and I was still very much in pain and suffering from this illness. my professor said this was okay and that I could write it when I was recovered. I went home for the week after that to make sure I was fully recovered. again, my professor said this was fine and to take my time and I could write it when I returned. on sunday evening, I received an email saying if I couldn't write it on monday, I would get a 0. I didn't see this email until monday morning at that point it would've been impossible for me to get campus at that point. she said that I know will receive a zero on this assessment which is 20% of my grade. with 20% of my grade missing, I will not be able to pass this course. I really do not want that to happen. I really would benefit and appreciate if I could drop this course.
thanks,
Sydney
