Petition Letter: Hello, I am writing this to appeal to drop a course after the academic deadline. I have been experiencing some incredibly debilitating physical symptoms that have made it nearly impossible for me to accomplish any work related to my schooling. My body and mind are at a point of exhaustion where memory making and concentration are at a substantially low point. Reading materials for this course consists of focus for a couple sentences, until I am quickly no longer able to register and process the information I am taking in. This has resulted in stressful and overbearing consequences for someone who already has pre-existing psychological conditions. The mix of currently unexplained and untreated physical symptoms, for which the causes are being tested for as this is written, and a successful yet slow recovery of psychological conditions makes any university work the equal of climbing Mount Everest. In order to maintain a successful recovery of my mind, I simply cannot deal with three challenges at the same time. My physical state must improve before I can do any university work, as psychological health is my top priority, and while fatigue and other symptoms get in the way, along with readings, assignments, etc., it is not realistic for me to have to deal with all three at the same time, only two. Sadly, physical and psychological symptoms cannot be simply let go, which makes my final course the only of these three major things I deal with now that I could drop. I dropped two classes a couple months ago, and tried only working this one, but if the information cannot be registered due to my exhaustion, it does not matter if I am working one, two, four, or eight courses at the same time. Along with that, motivation has quickly turned into a scarce resource I am struggling to find. Little things can be done to help, although not to the level of what I need to do even for one class. Thank you for reading this, as it is a sincere and honest portrayal of my current condition. I hope I am granted a late drop, as I do believe in this university and the values it portrays.
