Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,
I am appealing Dr. Wang??s decision of marking the course BIOL 401 as incomplete on my transcript.

This was a class I enjoyed, and I was doing incredibly well in, up until I had unforeseen medical circumstances and could not participate in the final labs. This happened towards the end of the term, where I fainted during a lab and had to be sent to the hospital. I told my group members since I had only missed a small portion of the lab that I could still complete the assignment. Dr. Wang told my group member to complete the work with someone else, leaving me with no ability to complete the work on my own- and if I were to, it would be twice as much work as anyone in the class had to complete.

This is the only course I had to appeal, as when I was dealing with medical issues, my other professors were accommodating, which allowed me to complete my studies diligently. I am unable to complete this course as I do not have access to the lab to conduct my final lab experiment, and I also do not have a partner to complete the assignment with. Dr. Wang was extremely unaccommodating during this unforeseen and scary circumstance.


Since these unforeseen medical issues arose, I have had surgery and am now able to achieve academic success. I had completed the majority of the work for this course, but see no alternative method to completing the final lab experiment needed to complete this course. I am supposed to gradate this term and I am hoping that these medical circumstances and this course do not hold me back. I am unable to get into contact with the professor as he hasn??t responded to my last emails. I have spoken with Haley in advising/appeals and was advised to submit this appeal. I am hoping something can be done so I can still graduate this May.
