Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
I am appealing the outstanding tuition that is due for the anatomy class I dropped on October 7th. In 2021 I decided that after having my two kids I could try to go back to school; I have always dreamt of finally having a degree. On October 6th 2021 my mom received the news that she has triple negative breast cancer, that had spread to her lymph nodes within the month between her biopsy and meeting with the surgeon. From that moment I became my moms primary caregiver. Triple negative BC is a rare aggressive cancer that has no hormone receptors like the more common BC, so my mom started aggressive chemo November 9th. From the moment my mom was diagnosed I was taking her to every appointment, every chemo, every ER visit from the chemo side effects as my mom had a very hard time from the effects of chemo. I didn??t know the road I had ahead of me on October 7th when I decided it would be in my best interest to drop the course while I was ahead without academic penalty, but I??m so relieved I did so I could fully take care of my mom and my two small kids??I suddenly had no time for anything else. Mentally and physically this has been a journey I would never wish on anybody, and there is no way I could??ve also done a course on top of it when there??s days we have 3 appointments in a single day. I was unaware that I dropped the course past the point of not having to pay for it, so when I logged on for the first time last week to retrieve the tax form from my bio class I was surprised that I had an outstanding fee. I was really hoping this fee could be waived, and if there??s anything I need to provide please let me know.
