Petition Letter: I am Ryan Holmes, I am a 19 year old male that is in first year Arts, with intentions of majoring in Economics over the coming years. I have recently undergone an exceeding amount of stress over the second half of the 2021/22 year, and for that reason I have been unable to keep up with my studies in my second semester. In my mental health history I have never had to deal with stress, and the stress itself leaves me impaired when I am trying to complete a task. This is all due to our COVID-19 shutdown in January, as my parents requested that I come home and take me out of residence. This has created a problem within my studies, I am no longer able to attend in person lectures as well as the tutorials that come along with it. Although it's no one's fault but mine, I have found it difficult to keep up my grades and my mental health has been rapidly diminishing. Just earlier this month I received an academic consideration, in POLS 110. This itself was demoralizing as I have never needed to back out of anything before, but I have been left with no other option. PHIL 111 has been a problem for me, as I am unable to fully grasp the course load, and our biweekly assignments for me have become nearly impossible as I don??t understand the course, leaving me further stressed out as I don??t know as to why I don??t get it. I hope you can understand my circumstances, and the following years to create a more manageable course load.
