Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To Whom it May Concern,

My name is Brianna Poirier and I am currently in my second year at Queen's University.
As a Health Studies major, I am required to take ANAT 101 to fulfill my degree requirements.
A couple of weeks prior to my first anatomy bellringer and written midterm, I was feeling quite ill and was unable to attend classes and labs in preparation for the testing. Having not improved, but significantly worsened, I visited LaSalle, and had blood work taken that tested positive for mononucleosis.
I believed that since the final two examinations of this course are weighted more heavily than the first two, that I would be able to come back from being sick and perform better in the course. However, I missed multiple labs and weeks of classes after the diagnosis and still do not feel 100. Mononucleosis tends to make concentration on a particular task rather difficult and leaves individuals feeling extremely fatigued the majority of the time that they are awake. This course is heavily weighted on memorization, and having missed critical lessons, I feel that I will not be able to come back in time for the final.
I am looking to drop the course and retake it in the 2016 Winter term.

Thank you in advance for your help with this matter.

Best,
Brianna Poirier
