Good evening, my name is Thalia Aarons- Thomas student number 20302868 and I am looking to appeal and drop without financial penalty my 3 all year around courses due to medical psychological conditions that came up in the new year. I was a focused student who believes in improving education and because of the circumstances I was in it forced me to take an academic pause in my studies. I am writing this letter to give awareness of my mental health and how strongly it affected me during my term. The courses I am looking to appeal and drop without penalty are Introduction to Sociology SOCY122, Introduction to Politics and Government POLS110, and Development Studies in Global Perspectives DEVS100. I was able to get in contact with my professors about the situation via email, I was able to complete the fall term for each course. Then I became completely unwell at the beginning of February and was in the hospital for the majority of the winter term, I do have supporting documentations to reflect the time and events that occurred during the semester's timeline. I believe that these courses should be appealed because like any sickness mental health got in the way of me being able to attend classes, submit assignments and be in Kingston Ontario because I came home and was admitted to my local hospital. I don??t want to fail courses I wasn??t able to put my full attention and effort towards. I than stayed in the hospital for 6 weeks and I am still recovering slowly to this day.
