Dear Sir/Madame:
Hello, my name is Ayesha Haniff. I hope this letter finds you well. I am submitting an appeal to drop the course PHGY 216 (Winter 2022) from my transcript. Unfortunately, I was unable to partake in the class as needed due to a clinical diagnosis of depression that came about after the death of an immediate family member at the beginning of the year. I initially believed I would have been able to complete the class but as time went by, I found myself unable to meet deadlines and function in my everyday life. I was unable to make it out of bed and was not fully cognoscente of approaching deadlines. I have been struggling with attending classes and have since January been in weekly therapy. I have also been placed on two types of depression medications (Fluoxetine and Buspirone) to try to get me back on a scheduled routine. I am registered in two other courses apart from this one, but I submitted more work for those classes and will still try my best to pass the final. Unfortunately, I have missed way too many deadlines for this class and will not have a passing grade even if I sit for the final.
I do intend to retake PHGY 216 in the summer and this time I have a better grasp on things as with the help of a counsellor and drug therapy I am able to function better.
Thank you for taking the time to read my application. I look forward to hearing your decision. I hope you and your loved ones stay safe and healthy.

Sincerely,
Ayesha
