Petition Letter: I am appealing to drop MATH120 for both fall and winter semesters of the 2021-22 academic year.
I a a student from Hong Kong, China. My family are still all there. I started off the first semester quite optimistic, thinking I could do well in the course, however a lack of support from home did not allow me to think very clearly during most of the first semester.
That, paired with a deffered exam where I intended to study for most of Christmas break for the exam was thwarted by a COVID positive test threw a wrench into things. However, I studied quite hard, and thought I did well on the mid year exam. I didn't know that I failed it until early March.
By early March, I was already fully commited to the course, and simply wanted to pass, especially after it took 3 months to recieve feedback on the exam. If it came earlier, I would have switched to an easier math course, and moved on. However I was determined to try and finish strong, until the approach to the final exam. Realizing how out of my element I am is stressing, and degrading my well being. It has interfered with my other classes, and I haven't been able to study efficiently for those.
I've been the most worried about my cumulative gpa, and would like it to remained unadulterated after this course ends. This is a long overdue appeal, and I was too arrogant to drop the course after recieving the mid year final results in march.
I simply want to move on, drop the course, and take Math121 over the summer to rectify this whole mess.
