Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Firstly, I just wanted to thank you for reading my appeal. I am appealing to waive the submission date on three assignments??one assignment in PHIL 250 and Two assignments alongside my short discussion posts in PHIL 275. The assignment in PHIL 250 is from the first semester and focuses on a theory based on epistemology and metaphysics. I was forced to drop a few classes during the first semester due to poor mental and physical health. At the time, I was wrongly diagnosed and was unknowingly receiving improper treatment. I was hospitalized a few times in the fall, ultimately causing me to fall behind in my studies. I had to sacrifice some of my assignments to catch up on others and prioritize the weight of my grades. The assignment I am appealing in PHIL 250 is worth twenty percent of my fall semester grade. Therefore it does weigh quite heavily. This course is a prerequisite for my major and one I do quite enjoy. I am just hoping to submit that one assignment in the course I missed to secure a passing and solid grade in the course. The other two assignments I am appealing are in my ethics class. These two assignments are from this semester, one due on March 9th and one on March 30th, with the addition of the Fall semesters discussion posts, which make up twenty percent of the fall grade. As previously stated, I was struggling severely in the fall, unable to focus on my work, unable to get myself out of bed, and my studies were affected. Only in the past month has my doctor revaluated me and discovered not only do I suffer from a few mental illnesses?? but I also suffer from ADD. During the past two years of university, I have gone undiagnosed and untreated for ADD up until now. I just started proper medication, which now allows me to focus much better, have the motivation, and keep a clear mind. Being behind in my studies and taking a reduced course load made me feel like I was incapable of accomplishing the same things as everyone else. I want to show that when I am in control of my mind and body instead of my mental illnesses and ADD that I am capable of achieving good grades, and I can stay on track. I am beyond thankful for the opportunity I have here at Queens to be a part of the Promise Scholar program, and I want to show the program I can do well and make them proud. Thank you again for your consideration
