Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dear to whom this may concern.

My name is Masoudah Abdul hamid and I am a 4th year Life science student here at
Queens University. I am writing this letter to ask for permission to drop the course
ANAT312 (Functional Neuro-anatomy) held within the fall semester of the 2014
academic year .There were several factors that contributed to my current academic
standing.

I admit, I had a very tough time last semester, and my grades suffered as a result.
I don't mean to make excuses for my unfortunate academic performance, but I
would like to explain the circumstances. I knew that registering for a full course load
this Fall which would require a lot of me, but I needed to earn the hours so that I
was on track to graduate on time. I thought I could handle the work load, and I
still think I could have, except that my grandmother grew ill and my mother had to
fly abroad to take care of her, leaving my younger brother in my care. Even when
I was at school, I was very distracted with the home situation and was unable to
focus on my schoolwork. I thought I could handle all of these burdens, and I tried
my best, but I was wrong.

I have worked harder this semester and decreased my work load, have decided to
take summer courses and have applied to graduation this spring , I will focus much
better on my schoolwork, take fewer hours, and manage my time more wisely.
I am looking forward to apply for graduate school the following year and would really
like to have a higher GPA.
