Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I'm appealing to drop PHYS 117. I am currently failing the course and will not pass without an 80 grade on the final which is not possible. I need to drop the course to save my GPA and to retain my admission to a Specialized Summer Program at the BISC. I cannot afford to have a failed course on my transcript, so I plead that you approve my request to drop the course after the deadline.
Although I did well in the first part of the course, once Prof. Topper left I began having more trouble following lectures, and I had to take a leave of absence from school during the months of November and December due to the passing of my Grandfather, and while trying to catch up in all my other courses I fell behind in Physics and have not been able to catch up since, despite my best efforts. Although I am passing all of the labs with an 80 or more, I cannot get my grade above 30 for the remaining part of the class. I have talked to Prof. Singh, but we agreed that this is the only option.
Thank you for your consideration.
