Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I have enrolled FILM460AB in 2021F/22W, and I have taken FILM 460A remotely in fall term. Due to the COVID-19, I decided to not return to Canada in 2022 winter term, and I have contact with Stephanie Wilson form Film Department to find out a way to deal with my FILM 460 course (because FILM 460B was an off-line class), meanwhile, I have contacted Beijing Film Academy to ask for an exchange study if FILM major courses. Stephanie told me that I could drop FILM 460B and leave FILM 460A on my record, so I dropped FILM 460B before the winter term started (November 26).
However, due to the COVID-19, Beijing Film Academy delayed the date when school begins, and I was not able to join any film courses from January to April. So I decided to gap for one term, but I have not realized that I did not drop FILM 460A officially.
I was planning to apply for an ILOP in summer, because Beijing Film Academy's school started.
I received an email from Stephanie and she told me that I did not drop FILM 460A officially and therefore I will get an F grade so I started on submitting the appeal quickly. I have not drop a one-year course before, and I have not yet grasped the seriousness of the problem. The reason is that I decided to pursue an exchange courses instead, so I am writing the letter to apply for removing the record. I am so sorry that I did not know this result and contacted with the department sooner.
