Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: This winter I fell very ill with a chronic health condition or sickness that has yet to be identified. I have been bedridden for most days of the semester with nausea and I have not been able to feed myself without having extreme nausea or vomiting in over 3 months, causing a multitude of health complications. I have visited with many specialists and I am continuing to take more tests going forward. Unfortunately I also fell prey to COVID19 during this time, resulting in multiple trips to the ER with the combined illnesses and longterm quarantining.

The condition I am in has resulted in me missing the large majority of classes and in person deliverables and I feel as though I have not learned the core content of either course. I was unable to attend my exams and I have not had any course interaction such as labs, quizzes, and tutorials. I would like to drop my BIOL103 and BIO200 courses in order to retake them and properly participate.

I would like to also note that I am still currently in the Applied Science Faculty and have applied to transfer to Arts and Science, specifically biology. Unfortunately one of the courses I need to drop is a prerequisite, and it is not available as a summer course. I would like to apply to waive the prerequisite and take that required course in the fall.
