Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
I am appealing to drop MATH 121. I don't feel as though I will be able to pass this exam as I barely passed the midterm with a 51.5 mark. I made efforts to keep up with the material and contacted Queen's tutoring services multiple times throughout the semester but was never answered. I also reached out to multiple private tutors but none had any availabilities. This course has been causing me a great deal of stress and anxiety and the knowledge that I will likely fail this course if giving me a feeling of helplessness. Moreover, I have to write 4 exams in the span of three days next week which is further contributing to my anxiety. I have spent the last few days trying desperately to prepare for this exam but I have come to the realization that I do not understand the material at all and am not in a position to be able to pull this together anymore. I do want to continue and do my other three exams and am only asking for permission to drop this one course. I do believe that calculus is a very important class (as well as one of my required courses) and I would appreciate the opportunity to re-take this course this summer when I have more time and attention to dedicate to this course. My plan is to apply to pharmacy school and all schools require a minimum of 70 in calculus which I realize is now not possible.
I appreciate you taking the time to consider my appeal,
Alyssa Shenassa

Professional Letter Detail: I would like to meet with a counsellor to discuss my anxiety and stress, however I do not have time to do this this week as I am trying to study for my other exams.
