Petition Letter: Hello To Whom It May Concern,
I hope you are having a great day. My name is Elhan Ilmi. I am a 29 year old single mother and I am earnestly pleading today for an appeal for the requirement to withdraw. I made a complete mess of my first year of the Bachelor of Arts and Science Online Program. I take full responsibility for it and to be honest I am saddened that I allowed my circumstances to derail my studies like this.
If you would hear me out, I hope you will reconsider your decision. This last year has been one of the most difficult years of my life. Right at the beginning of the new school year, I was extremely excited to begin my studies and I saw an awesome school year ahead of me. Unfortunately On September 10th,2021 I was in a domestic violence incident where my significant other choked me while body slamming me onto the ground until I passed out after an argument we had. For the first whole semester I couldn't even function. The only thing I could do was look after my child while I suffered from extreme anxiety and panic attacks. At that time I didn't reach out to anyone outside of my immediate support group. I was ashamed to tell the university or anyone else for that matter. I also blamed myself a lot for the circumstances that I felt I put my child in. Soon after in December me and my son got a horrible case of coronavirus even though I was vaccinated. This further put me into a depressive state since I completely lost my sense of smell and I became hypervigilant on making sure that there were no threats to my son at night like a fire and I developed insomnia. As you can see I was a complete mess, seriously depressed, and my mental health was at an all time low. Soon after I found out my father had coronavirus, he was a stage 4 cancer survivor and I really thought he would beat this virus. At first he did, however the damage to his lungs was to much and he got pneumonia and passed away on March 2, 2022. This completely devastated me because I was his caretaker for so many years and I just didn't think this would happen so soon. My life this past year has been absolutely painful. After all the pain and heartache I finally decided to see a therapist and it is really helping me cope as well as put things into perspective. I honestly believe that I am ready to face this coming school year and the growth it could bring me. I hope the University will give me a second chance to be stronger and to redeem myself. I promise to work hard and communicate when I need help with certain things. It would mean the world to me to start fresh again and to prove to myself that I am capable.
Thank you so much for listening and I hope to hear from you soon.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: Honestly my academic plan this year and the coming years is to continue to see my therapist to help with my mental health and the circumstances that brought forth my depression. The program I am in is truly my desired program. The Bachelor of Arts Psychology program is my passion especially now after everything that has transpired. I would love to start anew and redo my first year as a full time student. Coming back full swing this year to my studies is what I truly desire and I will do my very best to succeed and move forward with my life. I would appreciate all your aid in helping me move forward with my studies, it would mean the absolute world to me. Any advice or concern that you would like for me to address I am open ears and I cant wait to hear back from you.
