Petition Letter

Petition Letter: My name is Daniil Pavlov, student number 20090369. I am a third-year Queen's Computing student. During a period of time in the Summer 2022 term, the exacerbation of my health condition rendered me incapable of participating in most academic work. I am submitting this appeal to request a late drop for WRIT-120 (Fundamentals of Effective Writing), a July-August course, and a CR-standing for CLST-205 (Ancient Humour), a May-July course. For WRIT-120, I was only able to complete the first assignment and nothing in the rest of the course. For CLST-205, I was not able to work on an assignment, the weight of which covers a big part of the final grade. I am aware of course drop deadlines and of the tools that are provided to students in extenuating circumstances, but due to my condition peaking in the July-August period, which severely impacted my academic and personal life, I was not able to assess the situation correctly, and kept going with my courses, expecting an improvement in my condition. I have contacted Student Wellness Services and Student Accessibility Services regarding this issue, and they have provided me with multiple ways of treatment of my condition and I am working to resolve the issue with provided services by working with therapists, registering for ongoing accommodations, and reducing course load for the Fall 2022 term to ensure that my condition will not interfere with my studies to this degree again. Thank you.
