Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I was taking ANAT 312 (which I have now dropped)in tandem with ANAT 380 which created an extremely heavy content load when taken together. I was unable to keep up with the content in neuroanatomy (312) and also be able to keep up with the content in clinically relevant human anatomy (380). I had dropped past the due date because I had not yet felt overwhelmed by content in these courses but the first evaluation was upcoming in 312 on Sept 30 and I was finding it incredibly difficult to study for this evaluation while also managing all 3 of my other classes. It was exacerbating my anxiety disorder to a degree I couldn??t control and I felt the best path for me was to drop the course. After dropping the course I only remained with 3 courses this semester which is a very light load so I was hoping to add a course of interest that may be easier to manage. I wanted to take CANC 380 but was unable to enroll myself because it is pass the add/drop date.

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: I struggle mainly with test anxiety so many course with heavy content that take much longer to study for can exacerbate my anxiety leading up to evaluations. I was taking 2 courses that were solely based on anatomical knowledge and memorization. I hope to take CANC 380 which is a course more based on understanding concepts than on memorizing structures and recalling that information. If I were able to take CANC 380 I would be motivated to gain understanding rather than to try to cram as much memorized information into my head. I hope to achieve better results in an understanding based course than in the course I was in before. Additionally, being able to get my course load back to 4 courses this semester will really help my anxiety with regards to having enough credits to graduate.
