Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Hi there,

My name is Yuxin Huang, a 4th year COMA student, and I am writing to appeal for adding course CISC181 this semester.

I am very interested in this course because it deals with many popular aspects of the digital society, especially things like how ethical issues of modern technological innovation affect the world, as well as other areas such as the Internet of Things (IoT), social networking, security and privacy, data analytics, and artificial intelligence.

I didn't take this class because it's always full during open enrollment. Now I found there are some open seats there, but the deadline to add the class has passed. On the other hand, I know this class is also open next semester, but I can't take it because I have to take 5 classes next semester, including a term project which will take me many time and energy so that adding another class would be overload for me.

Therefore, I would like to take this course this fall and this is my last chance to take it since I will graduate at 2023 Spring. Furthermore, I know I have missed 1/3 of the course, including assignments and quizzes, but I can either do some make-up exams or add the percentage of the missed assignments to the next ones, and I believe I have the ability to do well in this course.
