Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I am writing this appeal in pertinence to my want of dropping POLS 261 for the fall term, and once again I apologize for having to submit this appeal after the drop deadline, but I thank you very much for your time.

Over the past year, I have slowly developed stronger and stronger anxiety levels and it has directly impacted my behaviour and emotions throughout the day, which has made it increasingly difficult to complete all of my courses content. Although it is not the greatest idea to do so, I often find myself skipping class in order to complete other work, but often times this had me feeling more anxious as I fell behind in other classes. It has been increasingly difficult to handle my everyday life and controlling my anxiety levels, and only since the start of the semester have I felt comfortable in approaching my parents to talk about it. This has definitely had a positive impact on my progress, as it allows me to not just constantly have thoughts racing and instead receive constructive feedback about how I may be feeling. Just recently I have started the process of looking for a psychologist to talk about how I'm feeling and my behaviour throughout the day and how it is affecting my work and play. The amount of work I complete has definitely diminished over the past year, as I have truly been lacking a lot of motivation towards completing said work. That being said, due to the psychological challenges I have been facing, I have not engaged into pols261 with enough motivation and fortitude that it has directly hindered my ability to complete work in the course throughout the semester. To be more specific, there is a final essay quickly approaching in said course and unfortunately due to the fact that I spent a lot of time trying to catch up in all my courses, I had absolutely no motivation or drive left to start the essay. In combination with the fact that I have read very minimal readings in the course and had extremely poor tutorial attendance, I am not only extremely ill prepared to complete this essay, but it has caused me a great deal of stress and anxiety over the last few weeks. I do believe that the proper course of action was to appeal to drop the course so that it does not only hinder my ability to complete my other course work, but cause me a great deal of anxiety. I thank you very much for your time in reading this and I'll hope to hear back from you soon.
