Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,

I am pursuing a career in Labour Relations and had registered for Queen's in late August. I was accepted as an Interest student but I intend to ultimately pursue a Certificate in Law.

I had attempted to sign up for EMPR 210 in September and was placed on a waitlist. It appears that I had been taken off the waitlist and enrolled in the course, but I was never made aware of this. When I hadn't heard back, I had assumed the course was full and I had intended to begin my studies in the Winter term.

I have never attended or even signed onto this course. I have not participated in it at all.

I became aware of this today when I contacted the IT team to get help resetting and accessing my Solus and MyQueens ID. I then spoke with the Registrar's office, who had directed me to the Faculty of Arts and Science. The Faculty told me that I had been taken off the waitlist four hours after I had joined it and that a notification had been sent to my Queen's email, but I didn't know how to access it and I had been expecting the communication to come to the personal email address I had been using for all of my correspondence with Queen's.

As a result, I never set foot in a Queen's virtual or in-person classroom.

Please allow me to drop this course without academic penalty or financial cost and please allow me to enroll for my courses beginning in the Winter 2023 term. In light of the technical challenges I had been facing and which are now rectified, please allow me to start over and freshly begin my studies at Queen's.
