Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am requesting an extension of my research paper in Film 200. The due date was Friday November 18th at 11:59pm. At approximately 11:40pm that night I attempted to hand in my completed paper via Pulse. However when trying to open the dropbox I received nothing but a white screen. For the next 10-15 minutes I tried opening the dropbox on browsers instead of the Pulse app, Chrome and Safari both showed just a white screen with no information. I then tried opening the submission box on my laptop where I was met with the same white screen with a message stating ??Unavailable Quicklink the assignment is not available?. By this time it was past 11:59pm.

Our professor locks all of our submission boxes for all of our assignments behind mandatory surveys that ask us questions regarding the professor's teaching proficiency. I had completed this days prior. But as a troubleshooting measure I opened the survey to try and complete it to see if that would solve the issue. However, the survey was closed as if I had already completed and submitted it.

After realizing I had been locked out of the dropbox I emailed him at roughly 12:10am explaining the situation along with a copy of my paper as proof that the work was indeed done and that Onq was having problems. (I??m aware this cannot be used as a submission) However Outlook has something called an Outbox that holds emails with a file until you send it a second time. I didn??t realize this until the next day when I had not received a reply. The email got to the prof at 11:40am the next morning. The prof responded by saying the dropbox is not closed and that I will be getting a 0% on my paper. After explaining and showing that his dropbox did close he reopened the survey for me to take again. This then allowed me to hand in my paper at 2:34pm November 19th.

In summary because something I or OnQ did, didnt work when I did the survey. This means I was unable to open the dropbox for submission. When I went to see if there was an issue with the survey it was locked as if I had done it. Upon the prof unlocking the survey I recompleted it and then handed in my paper. He still however maintains that I will be getting a 0% on my research paper. This paper is worth 25% of my final grade and I do not believe it is right to give a 0% given the circumstances. I??m requesting an extension on my research paper so that the 2:34pm hand in is accepted or that the percent that I??m being docked is re-discussed.
