To Whom it May Concern,

During my time at Queen??s university I have had both pleasant and unpleasant experiences, I??ve made some friends, and had some new experiences, but I??ve also fallen into a hole. For the last three years of secondary school, I was taking online courses of which I was only taking a maximum of two at a time, and while they were considered to be at the academic level, there were very obviously more forgiving grading processes. This, along with many years of growing isolation and anxiety due to COVID-19, and not being entirely sure what career I wish to pursue has left me completely unprepared and unequipped to cope with the stress levels present in a university level environment. Due to this, I??ve had a bad bout of stress and depression to the point of being near enough to a suicide attempt that I had to admit myself to the psychiatric ward at the Kingston General Hospital. Obviously these circumstances have created an environment for myself in which I haven??t been able to keep up with work, and in turn am failing my classes. I have been advised to speak with my family doctor and have a change of medication, this is scheduled to happen on the 28th of November 2022.
I do not believe my failing of these classes is representative of me, my intelligence, or my work ethic. I do believe the best course of action would be to not have this negative time in my life reflected permanently in a way that could hinder me from pursuing education once I am ready to. I do wish to succeed in life, and do intend on continuing a pursuit of a career at a post-secondary level.
