Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Dr. Stephenson,

I hope the last couple weeks of the semester are going well. I'm reaching out in regard to my KNPE 491 project under supervision of Dr. Mary Louise Adams. Earlier this semester, I took a leave of absence to return home and take care of my health, as recommended to me by my family doctor and the Queen's triage nurse. On top of my QSAS accommodations and new medications, I have been recommended to reduce my course load as a part of my treatment plan. I understand it is late in the semester, but after discussing my options with Dr. Adams and the SKHS undergraduate chair, Anna van der Meulen, I cannot see myself feasibly completing my KNPE 491 project in time in addition to my 5 other courses. Dr. Adams is also leaving on sabbatical next semester, removing the option to extend my project. To solve for this, I have reached out to potential professors who could take over supervision of my project; however, because the topic is specific to Dr. Adam's field of work, it is difficult to find an appropriate fit.

I have set up meetings with my QSAS advisor for next Monday and the SKHS academic advisor for next Tuesday to discuss my academic plan/options. Because I usually take extra courses and am therefore fairly ahead of my coursework, I can manage a reduced course load next semester while still keeping on track to graduate next spring (following confirmation from my advisors). After much thought, I'm asking for your permission to withdraw from KNPE 491 without academic penalty.

Thank you for taking the time to understand my situation... I hope we can find a solution that makes sense on both of our ends. Please let me know your thoughts or if you have any questions.

Warmly,

Jasmine Lee (Leelo)
