Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: The situation:
The essay in question was due Nov. 14th 2022.
I received academic consideration from October 24th-November 21st 2022, and then again from November 22nd- January 16th 2023.
The essay was submitted during the 2nd academic consideration period, although it was due during the first period of academic consideration.
My professor by her own discretion is not accepting my submission as she allegedly has the option to accept 'stacked' academic consideration for individual assignments.
If I knew this was an option for her, I would have requested a longer period of academic consideration, or one that did not fall upon the due date of this assignment.

I am hoping that this decision can be appealed due to these misunderstandings evident between myself and the professor, as well as the nature of my extenuating circumstance which is the basis for my extended academic consideration. Unfortunately, in January of this year my father was murdered while working as a taxi driver. It has been a very difficult time for me and my family as we navigate this loss. I realize that I must take the time to grieve as it comes up, but it is sporadic and undoubtedly affects my ability to do schoolwork at a normal pace. My consideration warrants extensions on individual assignments/essays, and I usually only need 3-10 days extra. This is also the only class I've needed to request academic consideration for this semester. My requests have more so been reflective of trying to work with this professor's policies, but it seems that I have worked against myself. If there is any way to override the professor's discretion to accept stacked consideration for individual assignments, that would be what is necessary to have my paper marked.
