Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Hello,
I am requesting to drop GEOL300 from my transcript.
Last semester/year I was an Orientation Coordinator for the Arts and Science Faculty which required a lot of my time. GEOL300 was scheduled to run during Orientation Pre-Week so I decided to defer the class for a year to take it in August 2023. Unfortunately, due to this class being a requirement for my program, I am not allowed to drop it. For the class to be dropped it needs to have special permission from the department, so I reached out. I emailed Professor Spencer (who was running field school) in March of 2022 requesting to be taken out of the class. Professors Spencer and Day had responded, and they were very understanding and said it would be no problem.
During the summer when I was choosing classes for fall 2022, I noticed that I was enrolled in GEOL300. I reached out again to the geologic undergraduate program assistant. I sent her the needed course registration forms and she told me that she could remove me from the class.
Fast forwarding to this semester I went to go and check my Fall 2022 grades and it says under GEOL300 that it was an incomplete class and if I don??t take the said class within six months the incomplete grade turns into a fail.
I am requesting that this class/grade be dropped as I did everything I could to try and remove this class from my schedule, way before the deadlines occurred.
