Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
I am writing to appeal for a late drop for my course GPHY 105 from the fall of 2022. During my first semester I was dealing with some personal conflicts that caused some stress during the semester. My mother was diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disease, which brought attacks that she would experience. Earlier in the year my mother experienced a mental breakdown which placed her in a mental institution, due to this she was placed under leave with pay. My grandmother was also diagnosed with amnesia and dementia and my mother is the only person that is able to be her primary caregiver which ultimately didn't help her condition at all. Also, an issue had also arisen with the reception of my yearly osap. I contacted osap in regards to applying/receiving OSAP. The OSAP was then sent to an account that was terminated, so I did not receive any personal funds. I had to make up for the lack of funds by working extra hours in order to make rent and pay for food. There was a period of time where I fell behind on my rent, which caused me to work more, eat less and it took my focus away from my academics.. I tried to strictly focus on school but the impact of everything that was going on around had affected me and put me too far behind at that point and was affecting my mental health.. I am working closely with my academic support network to stay on my academic plan this semester. I am also in the process of dealing with my bank and OSAP to help fix the situation, as well as in contact with financial aid to work out a plan so I am able to work less this semester, as I know the importance of my academics.
